Ben Ingram & Associates Family Law
We are a boutique firm with two lawyers and two support staff. We are located in the heart of downtown, across the street from the Vancouver courthouse. Our mission is simple: to provide experienced, client-focused legal representation that is tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.
Ben Ingram
Ben Ingram was called to the bar as a member of the Law Society of British Columbia in 1990 after completing his Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Victoria Law School. Ben’s background includes many years as a partner in a major national law firm where he developed detailed knowledge of commercial and financial transactions as a commercial litigator. For the last 18 years, Ben’s practice has focused solely on family law.
Ben has been a guest lecturer with the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia on family law matters and was a contributing author for ‘Family Law Agreements – Annotated Precedents’ and ‘Family Law Sourcebook for BC’. Ben maintains membership with the Canadian Bar Association – BC Branch, Trial Lawyers Association of BC and the American Bar Association – Family Law and Law Firm Practice Management Sections.
As an experienced courtroom advocate, Ben has appeared on family law matters in the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Court of Appeal of British Columbia. Ben has also appeared as counsel on two occasions in the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa.
Ben approaches files with a sensible outlook aimed at balancing both his client’s wishes and their legal positions. He is strategic in his practice and is ready to formulate creative solutions to your legal issues.

Marissa Atwal
Since joining Ben Ingram & Associates in 2020, Marissa has been dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of divorce, parenting time, child and spousal support, property division, and other family law issues. She focuses on providing compassionate and effective legal representation for her clients.
Marissa earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminology, with a focus on legal studies, from Simon Fraser University. She obtained her law degree from the University of Leicester in England. While there, Marissa volunteered with the Pro-Bono Society providing legal assistance to in-person litigants. She was also elected as the Academic Officer of the Canadian Law Society, where she organized and hosted several academic presentations throughout the school year. Upon her return to Vancouver, Marissa joined the team at Ben Ingram & Associates, working her way from legal assistant to associate.
Marissa is passionate about advocating for her clients during some of the most challenging times in their lives. Her decision to pursue a career in family law was driven by her personal experience of her own parents’ divorce at a young age. This experience allows her to understand and empathize with her clients on a deeper level, while maintaining her professional role as an advisor and advocate. Marissa is dedicated to helping her clients feel supported and informed throughout the legal process and is committed to achieving fair and equitable solutions.
Marissa is a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC and the South Asian Bar Association of BC. She is also on the organizing committee for the Emerging Family Lawyers Forum (ELF).
Outside of the office, Marissa enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and trying new restaurants.
